Instagram post 2176385970118910203_713587696 Hudson was sick off and on for a few months with bad headaches, fevers and other symptoms. During Thanksgiving, he got very sick and was taken to the emergency room at Children's Hospital of Georgia. Expecting it to be a quick visit, he spent 23 days at the hospital. During that time, he was tested for fluid on the brain and was diagnosed with viral encephalitis, which is inflammation of the brain. He was not able to sit or walk and began physical therapy after being released from the hospital. A year later, he is now happy, healthy and attending kindergarten. When you give back during the 19th Annual iHeart Media Cares for Kids Radiothon, you can help kids just like Hudson! Read more of his miracle story by clicking the link in our bio. #iheartchildrens

“I love being a pediatric occupational therapist because I never have the same day twice! Working with children challenges me to be as creative as possible and to be a lifelong learner. I am so grateful for the perspective that I gain working with a variety of patients from many different backgrounds. I also adore my pediatric rehab team! Through their own practice, they inspire me to be the best therapist as well as the best person I can be. I can't imagine a better team with which to work!”#AHPsWeek #AlliedHealth #PediatricAlliedHealth #AlliedHealthProfessionalsWeek

“I love working as a Pediatric Physical Therapist. This career has allowed me to work in several areas over the years; outpatient, school systems, and now the NICU. It has been a very rewarding career that has given me numerous opportunities to meet, work with, and fall in love with many children and their families. I love having a rehab team to work with here at Augusta University CHOG. They are extremely supportive and we work well together. I also love working closely with nursing staff, they are a great group of individuals and I respect them immensely.”#AHPsWeek #AlliedHealth #PediatricAlliedHealth #AlliedHealthProfessionalsWeek

“There is no harder time than when one of your loved ones is in the hospital. Especially when that loved one is your child. It is a feeling of vulnerability that many of our patients and their families experience on a daily basis. As a pediatric Speech Language Pathologist on the inpatient side, it is a privilege to walk through these hard times WITH these families. I get to experience many “firsts” with our patients after an accident or surgery: first time eating, first time drinking, first time hearing their own voice, first time re-learning how to communicate, etc. I also get to walk hand in hand with families as they try and navigate through the world of rehabilitation and recovery. Discovering “new normals”. It is a tough road to walk and it is truly an honor to be able to be a part of it. On top of working with our patients and families, I get to work alongside some of the best speech therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, respiratory therapists, doctors, and case managers! I truly believe that we are the best team and it is evident by how we work together. Whether that means helping change a patient’s bed or taking a baby outside for the first time in their entire life! I love being a speech therapist at Children’s Hospital of Georgia!” #AHPsWeek #AlliedHealth #PediatricAlliedHealth

“With being a speech therapist, one day is never the same. It is very exciting that we are able to work with kids on communication and feeding; two things that play major roles in development. At my job here, I work with ages from 3 weeks old to 16. I love my job because I am challenged every day, but it is very rewarding to work with the patients and families I get to see each week. Each day I am learning more which allows me to better serve the kids that come to our clinic.” #AHPsWeek #AlliedHealth #PediatricAlliedHealth

“I am blessed to work in a field that I love and in a place that is equally as special. My patients and their families make my job meaningful and enjoyable.  In addition, I could not ask for better co-workers. They truly are like family to me.  Our team is the best around.  I am honored to play a role in helping in the healing process of so many great kiddos and look forward to doing my part for many years to come!” #AHPsWeek #AlliedHealth #PediatricAlliedHealth
